Tour “Savage Finland on snowmobiles”. The roar of the engine and 450 kilometers of snow track amidst untouched nature: what else does a real man need? Tasty food and a real sauna for tired muscles? As much as you wish. This expedition is for anyone looking to test their long-range endurance in the harsh Finnish winter. Northern Finland awaits its heroes! This tour promises:
1 Day.
Day program:
Transfer to the hotel and Sahari center, where you will get winter equipment (The set of thermal clothing includes two-piece thermal overalls, snow boots, woolen socks, gloves and balaclava).
Check-in at the hotel with welcome drinks and meeting your guide for an overview of the program.
16:00-18:00 Hot tub and traditional sauna.
The riverside sauna awaits you, where you can enjoy a cold beer in a traditional Finnish sauna and a relaxing hot tub, as it is a Finnish tradition to drink beer in a sauna in good company. There is also snow if you want to cool off after the sauna and roll in the fresh Lappish snow.
18:00-20:00 Dinner at the main restaurant in a separate room.
The room was created in an authentic style in the form of an old woodcutter's kitchen with a fireplace with wood decor and natural colors. Enjoy a 3-course gourmet dinner using local ingredients and a flavor that is inherently Lappish: creamy soup with local boletus, reindeer sirlion with poasted potatoes, morel sauce and oven-baked root vegetables, and crispy homemade blueberry pie with cloudberry ice cream and strawberry sauce.
Day 2-4.
Day program:
08:00-09:30 Breakfast at the hotel.
09:30 - 12:00 Adventure with husky and reindeer.
From the doorstep of your cottage, you will set out to meet the majestic reindeer. Wrapped in warm blankets, you will enjoy a leisurely sled ride through the winter forest, where snow-covered trees slope to the sled. Then you will go to the husky. Noisy and playful, they will rush you with a breeze and adrenaline. Everyone will have the opportunity to experience being the musher, a dog sled driver. Between the rides you will enjoy warm berry juice and biscuits while listening to stories about reindeer and huskies and an interesting lifestyle with these animals.
12:00-13:00 Lunch on a private island in the traditional wooden tepee "Kota".
Under the perky barking of a husky you will walk along the frozen river and take a snowy oath. In the forest there is a magic wooden tepee called "Kota", where food is cooked on fire in the most ancient way. The host will meet you and cook salmon for you on the fire. It will be served with reindeer mousse on rye bread, creamy mashed potatoes and cloudberry cake.
13:00-13:30 Start of the expedition on snowmobiles for 4 days. Each has a personal snowmobile and a 40-liter trunk. An international driving license is required.
After meeting your guide, you will receive a daily safety briefing, weather forecast and planned route for the day. You will also pack your LinQ trunks, as everyone will carry their personal belongings with them on the snowmobile - luggage will be locked in a secure locker storage at the safari center.
Depending on the weather and skills, this day you will have to ride from 80 to 120 km by 2-stroke Lynx Xterrain snowmobiles - the best snowmobiles in the world at the moment. Often referred to as the "Ferrari of Snowmobiles", the Xterrains are cross-country sleds that perform equally well on both hard track and soft snow. They also have an amazing acceleration speed: from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.17 seconds. The daily distance is subject to change at the discretion of the guide.
Daytime distances will be as follows:
Day 2: approx. 120 km
Day 3: approx. 146 km
Day 4: approx. 144 km
Day 5: approx. 150 km
During the expedition, you will stop at places inaccessible to mass tourism. It is always a small family hotel or a desert cottage. The food will be local and most often homemade: sometimes it will be a local village restaurant, and sometimes it may be a gas station, as this is the only gas station with food within a 100+ km radius.
5 Day.
Day program:
16:00-17:00 Dinner by the fire, cooked on the open fire.
17:00-18:00 Arrival back to the safari center and receiving the "Certificate of the Great Expedition".
Each will be awarded a certificate confirming the passage of the Arctic expedition. You can then take off your snowmobiling overalls and change into your own clothes as the transfer takes you to your hotel in the city center.
18:00-19:00 Transfer to the hotel in the center.
20:00-22:00 Dinner at the authentic Sami restaurant Nili.
Restaurant Nili looks like the home of the Sami, the indigenous people of Lapland, with bearskin at the entrance and antlers as decoration on the curtains. We recommend tasting the signature mushroom soup in kuksa (porcini mushrooms from the Kainuu region in sour cream), raindeer steak and Saaga chocolate cake (blueberry ice cream and white chocolate).
