Tour "Maritime Quest - St.Petersburg". Saint Petersburg. The main western sea gateway of Russia. The significant seaport of Saint-Petersburg and passenger ports function all year round, accommodating many Russian and foreign vessels. In Saint-Petersburg itself, however, the navigation period lasts from May to October, as the Neva River and Lake Ladoga freeze over during winter months. We invite you to take part in the maritime quest in St.Petersburg. During our tour you:
10:00 - 1st venue - Artillery Museum (outdoor exposition).
Prior to the event the group’s leader receives a message in a bottle that contains an invitation to take part in a quest. Our first venue is the Artillery Museum, one of the largest military historical museums in the world, with extensive collections of artillery guns and ammunition, small arms and cold weapons, awards and badges of the Russian army. Our guide will handle a small tour of outdoor military exposition.
At the first station the guests are met by Peter the Great, the founder of the city who invites them to observe the huge collection of military weapons of the Russian army and feel the atmosphere of the military power!
To feel the real power one have to learn drinking Russian vodka! So his task is to teach them how to drink Russian vodka in a proper way in the best Russian traditions. After the guests tried it by themselves, they proceed to the next station – Peter and Paul Fortress and Peter the Great shows the way!
10:45 - 2 venue – Peter and Paul Fortress.
Built during the Great Northern War, the Peter and Paul Fortress was never used for defense, but instead became the center of Peter the Great's awe-inspiring project to build a modern Imperial capital on the marshlands of the Neva Delta.
Moving from Artillery museum they enter the main gates of fortress, pass the main square with cathedral and move to Naryshkin Bastion towards Flagstaff tower at the fortress wall. The group goes up to this significant tower and that’s the end of their walking route. In the part Flagstaff tower was used for hanging of the fortress's own flag on holidays and during Imperial visits.
The guests admire of the city’s stunning view together with glasses of champagne and some light snacks. They could participate in midday Canon Shot ceremony as well as stunning guard of honor ceremony and perform a real shot with the help of a gunner. For those who wants – there is a master-class on making of sea knots with sailors. Fortress Gunner provides the trophy (or a bullet-shell) and Peter the Great escorts them to the main river pier where they continue their experience by river cruise.
11:30 - 3d activity – River cruise along the Neva and its canals.
Explore the city from water and see the most significant buildings at their architectural splendor which were built to be viewed from water. Enjoy some drinks and snacks while this canal cruise and get your picture from a caricaturist.
12:15 - 4th venue - The legendary cruiser Aurora.
The group continues its quest by mooring at the pier near the unique monument of Russia and its Navy, a museum ship Aurora. The cruiser took part in three wars, became an active participant of the revolutionary events of February-October 1917 and was a “smithy” in training of several generations of naval officers.
Since the cruiser is connected mostly with events at October Revolution, the group is met by warlike sailors and revolutionaries who perform the Russian dance of sailors “Yablochko” and involve the guests to participate.
Additionally, one can consider a weapons exhibition as well as photo area decorated in the theme of the revolution (attributes - red flag, leaflets, banners, posters etc.). After passing all the tasks, the guests get into trucks with drivers wearing vests and proceed to the next station.
13:00 - Lunch at Russian Vodka room.
The group procceds for lunch to the iconic restaurant of Russia cuisine "Russian Vodka room" where they can taste the dishes from different historical periods and observe over 200 kinds of Russian vodka.
14:00 - 5th venue – The Central Naval Museum.
The group continues its quest and the sailor escorts them to the Central Naval Museum - one of the oldest and largest maritime museums in Russia. It has the world's richest collections of model ships (about 2,000 units) that reflect the history of the Russian and foreign military shipbuilding.
At the entrance to the Museum, the group is met by the Navy Captain who invites the guests to the conference hall to watch a historical maritime film. When program is over and the group leaves the museum, there is a surprise for them - a special transport to deliver them to the next venue by real retro carriages (real Soviet Volga / GAZ, Chaika etc.)
14:45 - 6th venue - Admiralty shipyards.
The group leads to the Russian center of construction of submarines and other vessels. The enterprise consists of hull production workshop, assembly-welding workshop, machinery production, commissioning workshop and outfitting dockside, own engineering center. The excursion will be held by the engineer from shipbuilding department who tells about innovative technologies, all the stages of formation of the ship’s structure and its after-sales service.
After the tour the guests are met by the Navy Admiral who greets and suggests to look through binoculars towards the other side of the river. Guests are not aware and suddenly they discovered the company flag installed on the real submarine in a distance.
The Navy Admiral provides them a special key to the submarine or VIP passes and invites them to finish the quest at the pier where the real submarine is located. It will be the final point of the quest.
Guests are provided with vests and caps (can be branded) and board the bus in order to get to the other side of the river to Submarine C-189.
15:30 - Solemn ceremnony at Submarine C-189.
The venue itself represents the submarine of the Soviet fleet and which was turned into a museum.
The submarine has been fully restored, and now it’s free to wander the length and breadth of the vessel, and to touch whatever you want.
The solemn end of the quest takes place on a deck of Submarine C-189 and consists of greeting by the military brass band, ceremonial parade. The Navy Admiral makes a grand speech and congratulates the guests with completing all the tasks. The group leader is provided with the right to raise the company flag accompanied by the company / country hymn.
To memorize this event the group leader breaks a bottle of champagne on the side of the submarine, symbolizing the end of their experience. That’s the time when drinks and snacks are served and there is an opportunity to visit Submarine inside with the guide, make pictures at a special photo area and party with DJ music. Additionally, one can help the painter to finish his picture (that can be gifted at the end) and enjoy the weapons exhibition. The group proceeds to the restaurant for dinner.
