On a cosy Balkan Peninsula, among the majestic old mountains, virgin forests and mighty rivers, there is a wonderful country - Serbia. Serbia is rich in monuments of different eras and cultures, sights of historical, religious and aesthetic content. It has its own distinctive culture and cuisine, generous natural wealth. The Serbs are super-hospitable and super-friendly, a little sloppy like all the southern peoples, but always friendly and helpful. Most tourists visit Belgrade - the capital of Serbia and one of the oldest cities in Europe, dynamic, hospitable and comfortable, "a city that never sleeps." In the central part of the city is the Kalemegdan park complex, which includes museums, ancient churches, a zoo, a park and Belgrade fortress, where you can see the best view of the Danube and Sava rivers.

The Belgrade fortress was erected from the 1st to the 18th century so that the colonial history of Serbia can be traced along the walls. These lands were owned by the Roman, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires, which explains the richness of architectural styles. You should definitely visit the unique museum of Nikola Tesla. Belgrade is cosy and comfortable: there are many summer cafes, well-equipped beaches and boardwalks, areas with old buildings, modern business centres and skyscrapers.

Despite the fact that Serbia has no access to the sea, there are a large number of resorts and health centres. Serbia has all the necessary medical factors: over 1000 mineral springs, healing mud, thermal waters and a mild climate. Serbian resorts have a long history: the Romans had used the mineral waters of the Gamzigrad Bath 2,000 years ago, and in the Ottoman period, Turkish baths were built here. In total, there are about 40 resorts in Serbia.

In winter, Serbia gladly invites its guests to the mountains: many ski resorts are located in fabulous natural parks, provide a completely European service, but differ in very affordable prices. World-famous places for winter vacations in Serbia are the Kopaonik and Zlatibor mountains. Ecotourism and agrotourism are well developed in Serbia. In mountainous areas, you can find eco-villages, which were built for privacy and enjoyment of nature. You should definitely visit Drvengrad - an ethnic village built by the famous Emir Kusturica as the scenery for the film, and later it was later converted into a hotel complex. This is a comfortable stay with the most national flavour.

The economy of Serbia is transitional and actively developing. In the sphere of interests are engineering, chemical, electronic, textile, food, woodworking industries, agriculture, tourism. Today Serbia is a peaceful state in which the tourism business is developing rapidly. Such a variety of beautiful places makes Serbia a very attractive destination for business travellers. Serbia is magnificent at any time of the year, thanks to the wonderful climate of this country, the organization of business events is possible both in winter and in summer.

And therefore, many large corporations are increasingly organizing business trips to Serbia, given the wide range of congress services in Serbia and the possibilities of MICE in Serbia. Favourable factors are the lack of the need for visas for citizens of many countries, the availability of hotels belonging to international hotel chains that provide a high level of holding events at affordable prices. Going to Serbia, everyone will find something for themselves to their taste and this wonderful country will not leave anyone indifferent, and you will want to return here again and again.

Business Information

The modern history of Serbia at the end of the last century is eventful and full of tragedy. Peace and stability have come to the country relatively recently, but have entrenched themselves firmly and confidently. The economy of Serbia is in a condition of formation and transition to a market economy. A significant share of the economy is agriculture, industry and services. A particularly important factor is the stability and reliability of the banking system of Serbia. Opening a business here for a foreign citizen is cheap and simple. The main thing is to study the needs of the market and the mentality of the local population, since the Serbs are quite conservative, and not all goods and services will be in demand here. But nevertheless, due to the economic situation in the country, in Serbia there are many unoccupied niches with the most varied volume of investments.

In Serbia, entrepreneurship is based on the principles of the free market, and the state as a whole does not pose a barrier to the development of small and medium businesses. You will be assisted in starting a business by Serbian law. The consulate will not require you to evaluate your income. In fact, all you need to provide is a business plan and confirmation from the bank that you have the means to make your idea a reality. After that, the procedure for registering a company will begin. It takes 2-3 weeks in Serbia. First of all, you need to determine the legal form of the company, on which depends the minimum size of the authorized capital.

To register, you need to determine the name of your company and get a legal address. Next, you need to open a bank account, and then transfer the documents to APR (Agencija za Priivredne Registre). After verification, the specialist will take them to work, and in seven days the company will be opened. You will be given a document confirming the registration of a legal entity, as well as a personal tax number - PIB. After registering a company, you need to register with the tax service, social insurance service and pension fund. As for the documents of the founder, you only need a photocopy of your passport. The business owners are provided with a residence permit in Serbia, which does not need to be renewed, as in the case of a residence permit on a work visa.

The tax burden according to European standards is average: VAT 20%, income tax 14%, payments to the payroll - 20%, and others. There are also free economic zones and preferential tax regimes in Serbia. Serbia has signed an agreement with several states on the elimination of double taxation, which is also important for foreign investors. Another undeniable plus is the well-educated and qualified staff. The Serbs are welcoming and friendly, a bit slow, but hardworking. you might take into account the peculiarities of the local work schedule and commitment to traditions.

Developing tourism is not the most profitable area for investment due to the fact that Serbia has no access to the sea, and therefore the tourism business has a pronounced seasonality. But it is a good field the food industry: developed organic farming, an excellent climate, high productivity and quality of products, state and scientific support. The automotive industry with 80 years of history and experience, the full-cycle aviation industry, construction, business process outsourcing, after-sales services, the creative industry, information and communication technologies, pharmaceuticals, woodworking and light industry are successful and constantly developing sectors of the Serbian economy, investments which will be clearly justified.
