Finland is famous for its clean air and unique landscapes; it is called the country of thousands of lakes and forests, which will always be near, wherever you are. Or maybe you want to visit Santa Claus, see the Northern Lights or feel the pacification of life in the countryside? If you think that you have already seen everything, it's time to come to Finland.

For many people who have never been to Finland, this country is associated with eternal snow, and in vain, because in summer the temperature reaches + 21 °C, and the sea warms up to tolerable + 16 °C. It is not the most comfortable temperature for a beach holiday, but the best for excursions and contemplation of nature: 70% of the territory is covered with beautiful forests, there are 30 national parks and 187,888 lakes in the country. An ideal place for lovers of nature, fishing, silence, clean air and crystal water. On the other hand, Finland has excellent shopping, lots of castles and ancient churches, cosy towns and, of course, the main sightseeing treasure of the country - Helsinki.

In winter, Finland is pleased to offer guests ski resorts, original ice hotels and the Northern Lights in the sky (25% of Finland is located beyond the Arctic Circle). But the main thing is, of course, the Santa Claus village, which every child wants to visit, but not a single adult will remain indifferent. You can live in a secluded hut in a bewitchingly beautiful forest, ride ice skating or sledging on the ice of a frozen lake, take a walk on a deer or dog sledge, and, of course, take a steam bath in a sauna - here the Finns are as good as anyone.

National cuisine is distinguished by an abundance of salmon dishes of all kinds, delicious vegetables from ecologically clean areas, wild berries and mushrooms. Finns do not shy meat dishes, there are always different types of stews, meatballs and sausages, as well as variations on the theme of meat in a pot in the restaurant menu and on the home tables. You should also pay attention to dairy products, in particular cheeses and yoghurt-like drinks “piima” and “viily”.

Finland is a highly developed industrial-agricultural country. Leading industries: metallurgical, machine-building (shipbuilding, electronic equipment, etc.), pulp and paper, woodworking, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, chemical, textile, food. Minerals are also mined. Agricultural land occupies 8% of the entire country, and arable land totals 2 million hectares. Tourism contributes to the economy thanks to by a well-developed infrastructure, a wide variety of hotels for every taste and budget, a rich leisure program with a bright shade of local flavour. Business tourism in Finland is also well developed, many festivals, exhibitions and international congresses are held annually, mainly in the capital Helsinki, but other large cities are ready to host large business groups too.

Business Information

Finland has very few large businesses, mostly small and medium. Therefore, in this country, almost ideal conditions have been created for managing your small company. The advantages of Finland are obvious: good geographical location, stable political situation, economic development - what else is needed? The number of companies opened by foreigners is gradually growing, and most of them are pleased with their decision to start a business in Finland. If this country attracts you not only as a place for winter recreation but also as a platform for earning, then you are on the right way.

A citizen of any country can establish a company in Finland. But if you do not have Finnish citizenship, then in the board of directors must be a resident of the European Union. And if it is a resident of Finland, then during the process of registration of the company your business will be treated more loyally. To open a company in Finland, you must have a certain starting capital. Its minimum is 2500 euros. Free assets should be at least 50% of the total authorized capital. This will be an “ideal” picture for the tax, that is, such a company will not show any signs of bankruptcy. Prior to the direct opening of the company, this sum must be put into a bank account, and then you can already use it for your commercial purposes.

In general, bureaucratic procedures are minimized. To register, you must obtain permission to conduct business in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, pay the state fee, submit a fixed list of documents to the Patent Office, make stamps and recruit employees. If we talk about taxes that relate to business, you need to know about these figures: income tax - 30%, contributions to the social fund - 2.2%, contributions to the unemployment fund - 0.8%, contributions to the pension fund - 22.8%, value-added tax - 23% of the profit. The state provides all kinds of support to small and medium-sized businesses, either it is free consultations or even entrepreneurial courses, and perhaps even the allocation of start-up capital. For a successful business, it is better to know one of the official languages: Finnish or Swedish.

Finns are quite conservative, they appreciate punctuality and modesty. Initial preparation and a clear plan of action in everything is very important for them. Finnish people prefer to resolve disputes at the negotiating table and are very wary of those who talk too emotionally, loudly or quickly. They greatly honour their culture and traditions but are always open to various innovations. The most common direction for investment is the service sector, both closely related to tourism and indirectly. All conditions for successful business in Finland are created, the main thing is to develop correctly a business plan and study the features of the local market.
