Cyprus is an ancient and mysterious land, the center of the Mediterranean trade of antiquity, the crossroads of the sea routes of the Middle Ages, the birthplace of many legends and legends. The abundance of cultural monuments on its land is simply countless, and its wonderful climate, gentle sun and warm sea made it one of the largest resort regions in the world. This is a paradise with picturesque mountains and stunning beaches for a perfect holiday with a warm Mediterranean climate. The island is rather small, so if you have a car and enough time, you can explore it and familiarize with the culture and history of this ancient land.

First of all, Cyprus is known for its beaches, many of which are marked with Blue Flags. The beaches are covered with yellow or white sand, sometimes mixed with small pebbles. In combination with a clean and warm sea, they provide an excellent tandem for a comfortable beach holiday. The tourist season in Cyprus is very long. You can swim from May to October, and sunbathe - even longer.

The Troodos mountain range overgrown with pines stretches for 80 km and is so unlike the coastal sunny resort of Cyprus that it deserves a separate excursion. In the hot summer months, thousands of tourists and residents of Cyprus come to Troodos to relax in the coolness of the mountain ranges, admire the magnificent panorama or get acquainted with the unique relic plants that live only in these previously inaccessible places. During the time of numerous invasions, the Cypriots took refuge in the remote places of the Troodos, rebuilding monasteries and rock temples, which have survived for the most part to this day, having accumulated many relics. From January to March, in the vicinity of Mount Olympos (1951 m.), you can even ski, there are 4 ski lifts.

In addition to the stunning natural landscapes, Cyprus is famous for its historical ancient sights. There is the Archaeological Museum with ancient exhibits of the Neolithic era in the capital. The most popular attraction with magnificent views is the city of Ancient Kourion, which was destroyed during an earthquake in the fourth century. Here you can touch the Roman baths and the sanctuary of Apollo of Hilate. Stunning temples are always open to visitors, for example, the church of Theoskelasti, St. John, the church of St. Paraskevi and others.

According to the legend, it was in Paphos that the goddess Aphrodite came out of the sea to the shore, so almost all the remarkable places here are associated with this ancient legend. The resort is located in the southwestern part of the island and also offers to visit the Villa Theseus Museum, Byzantium and the house of Dionysus. There are attractions associated with Greek mythology at almost every step on the island.
International tourism in Cyprus is booming, as it is one of the main items of national income.

All infrastructure has been equipped and thought out to the smallest detail a long time ago. There are large cities with incessant discos, restaurants and shops. There are also quiet cozy villages where you can relax from the hustle and bustle. In Limassol, Paphos and Cavo Greco there are hotels ideally meeting the MICE requirements: there is a large number of rooms, spacious and equipped conference rooms, convenient infrastructure, and a lot of sights nearby.

Business Information

Cyprus attracts international attention and is becoming an increasingly promising country for business, investment and life. The success of the island is explained by progressive legislation, a regulatory regime and a powerful network of financial and professional services providers. The government and institutions of Cyprus are committed to maintaining leadership in the development of the industry, providing access to fast-growing markets and supporting business in Cyprus. The Republic of Cyprus is rightfully considered one of the most comfortable countries for carrying out entrepreneurial activity by foreigners. This is primarily due to the relatively stable tax situation, high information security, a well-developed banking system and a loyal attitude of the authorities and the local population. Also, a double taxation treaty has been concluded between many countries and Cyprus.

In order to open a business in Cyprus, you must obtain a residence permit. It is also advisable to have your own real estate. It is important to consider that in some areas a license is required, and in some spheres foreigners cannot open a business in Cyprus at all. Registration of a company in Cyprus cannot be called complicated: there is a clear list of requirements and documents, an algorithm of actions. After providing all the documents, a new company is registered in the Register of Companies. After registering a new business, it is necessary to register it in the State Accounting Commission. This procedure does not require additional papers and any fees. All the process will take from 15 to 30 business days.

Income tax is 10%, and VAT is 17%, which is a rather low indicator comparing with other EU countries. There is also a tax on capital gains in case of the sale of real estate, it is 20%, but there is no tax on the sale of shares. Each entrepreneur is also obligated to pay income tax on wages and deduct money to a pension fund and social insurance. The share of tourism in gross national product is 20%. This is a fundamental industry for Cyprus, so the areas that are closely associated with it will be the most promising. Nevertheless, there is also mining on the island, and the light industry is quite well developed: the production of food, tobacco, textile.

The state is very loyal to enterprises that create jobs for the local population. Cypriots are very educated, and Cyprus occupies a leading position in the world in the number of specialists with higher education per thousand inhabitants. Busy, entrepreneurial, organized, temperamental, cheerful, but at the same time quite conservative and well-educated. Cypriots are very hardworking, but they love to relax and know a lot about it.
